The "Ten Nations Of Psalm 83”
“And the LORD said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven..….For he said, Because the LORD hath sworn that the LORD will have war with Amalek from generation to generation.” Ex 17:14,16
“Therefore it shall be, when the LORD thy God hath given thee rest from all thine enemies round about, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven; thou shalt not forget it.” De 25:19
Amalek: Son of Eliphaz, eldest son of Esau by his concubine Timna ( Gen 36:12,
1 Chron 1:36). Duke of Edom (Gen 36:16). Amalek—the first foe to attack the people of Israel after they had come out of Egypt as a free nation; twice designated in the Pentateuch (Ex. xvii. 14-16, Deut. xxv. 19) as the one against whom war should be waged until his memory be blotted out forever—became in rabbinical literature the type of Israel's arch-enemy. A kinsman of the Israelites, Amalek nevertheless displayed the most intense hatred toward them: he inherited Esau's hostility to his brother Jacob. When other nations hesitated to harm God's chosen ones, his evil example induced them to join him in the fray "like a robber he waylaid Israel;” "like a swarm of locusts:” "like a leech eager for blood;” "like a fly looking for sores to feed on;” Amalek ('am la? = the people which licketh) hurried over hundreds of miles to intercept Israel's march (Tan. Ki Te?e, ix., and Pesi?. iii. 26b)
Jewish thought on “Amalek”: Quote: “The murderer did not want to kill these people in particular, but everyone living in the holy city of Jerusalem. The murderers are the Amalek of our day, coming to remind us that Amalek has not disappeared, just changed its appearance. This otherwise obscure biblical figure holds great symbolism in Jewish history. In Jewish scriptures and later Talmudic writings, he is often depicted as the archetypal enemy of the Jewish nation. Accordingly, the greatest enemies of the Jewish people—such as Hitler—are often referred to as “Amalek.” End of Quote
Middle East Strategy at Harvard: “Amalek: What’s In A Name”
For the nation of Israel, Psalm 83:1-8 in The Living Bible says this....
"O God, don't sit idly by, silent and inactive when we pray. Answer us! Deliver us! Don't you hear the tumult and commotion of your enemies? Don't you see what they are doing, these proud men who hate the Lord? They are full of craftiness and plot against your people, laying plans to slay your precious ones. Come, they say, and let up wipe out Israel as a nation; we will destroy the very memory of her existence. This was their unanimous decision at their summit conference—they signed a treaty to ally themselves against Almighty God—these Ishmaelites and Edomites and Moabites and Hagarites; people of the lands of Gebal, Ammon, Amalek, Philistia and Tyre. Assyria has joined them too, who is allied with the descendants of Lot.”
I believe sadly, that the nation of Israel is immediately awaiting the fulfillment of this prophecy against her. Most prophecy teachers and some rabbis, believe this passage has yet to be fulfilled.
Following is the definition of each "nation:”
1. Ishmaelites: A descendant of Ishmael, the son of Abraham and Hagar. The 12 sons of Ishmael who had an Egyptian wife, became princes and progenitors of as many tribes. They lived in camps in the desert of Northern Arabia, although occasionally some of them settled down, as the Nabateans. Mostly however, they lived like Ishmael, "a wild man" of the desert” (Gen 16:12), and also like him they were famous for their skill with the bow. The word is apparently used in the OT in a wider sense, referring to the nomadic tribes of Northern Arabia generally (Gen 37:28,36: Judg 8:24). However, most Bible maps place the Nabataean Kingdom in the area of Edom.
ALL ARABS, WHO FOLLOW MOHAMMAD'S EXAMPLE, CLAIM DESCENT FROM ISHMAEL!
2. Edomites: ( Hebrew: red) The Semitic nation and its people who were the descendants of Esau, who founded the country, so his name is equated with Edom (Gen 25:30; 36: 1,8). The country was also called Seir, or Mt. Seir, which was the name of the territory in which the Edomites lived, the mountain and plateau between the Dead Sea and the Gulf of Aqabah. It is thought the Edomites gradually absorbed the original people in that area, the Horites, until they disappeared. The Edomites were subject to Babylon. Under the Persian Empire Edom became a province called “Idumea.” Edom figures prominently in the prophetic Scriptures as the scene of great future judgments (Isa 34:5,6: 63:1). She is the only neighbor of the Israelites who was never given any promise from God. Edom is south of the Dead Sea, south of Jerusalem and extends westward into southern Judah, Petra is in Edom. Today, the eastern portion of Edom is inside Jordan, along the route of “the King’s Highway.”
3. Moabites: (Hebrew: seed) Semitic descendents of Lot by incest with his elder daughter. They settled first at Ar, just E of the southern part of the Dead Sea. Balak was a Moabite and hired Balaam to try to curse Israel. Moab is referred to as having "the pride of Moab.” Moab and Seir are to be punished for likening the house of Judah to the other nations (Ezek 25:8-11). Jeremiah 48 depicts past and future judgments upon Moab, and Zephaniah 2:8-11 foretells utter destruction upon Moab for its wicked pride. Moab is due SE of the southern border of the Dead Sea. Today, Moab is inside Jordan, along the route of “the King’s Highway.”
4. Hagarites/Hagarenes: An Arab people with whom in the days of King Saul, the tribe of Reuben made war (I Chron 5:10,20). Psalm 83 tells how the Hagarenes were leagued not only with Moab and the Ammonites E. of the Jordan, Edom and Amalek to the South. Asaph prays that God for His own name's sake will defeat them utterly.
5. Gebal: ( Hebrew: border) A seaport of Phoenicia, between Sidon and Tripolis, 25 miles N of Beirut. In Greek and Roman time it was called Byblos, from the manufacture of papyrus there. Joshua 13:5,6 refers to the land of the Gebalites, the land of Lebanon at the foot of Mt. Herman. It was also a land between the Dead Sea and Petra, modern Jibat, in north western Edom, allied with the enemies of Israel, including Edom and Assyria.
6. Ammon: (Hebrew: a people) Or, Ben-ammi, is the name of one of the sons of Lot born to him by his youngest daughter in the neighborhood of Zoar (Gen 19:38). He was the father of the Ammonites, who occupied a portion of land E of the Dead Sea in the land of Gilead (modern Jordan today). The people were fierce in nature, rebellious against Israel and idolatrous in their religious practices. They were given to brutish murder. They opposed the work of Nehemiah in restoring the walls of Jerusalem. Their chief idol was Molech, to whom they were guilty of offering human sacrifices (I Kings 11:7).
7. Amalek: Semitic son of Eliphaz, eldest son of Esau. Duke of Edom (Gen 36:36). The people were first mentioned in those smitten by Chedorlaomer in the days of Abraham (Gen 14:7). Moses felt their fury in the unprovoked attack upon the Israelites at Rephidim, for which God decreed continual war and ultimate obliteration (Exod 17:8). King Saul was commissioned to destroy them utterly, but failed to do so and spared Agag (II Sam 15:8) and was himself, slain by an Amalekite, after the Lord took the kingdom away from him and gave it to Jesse’s 8th son, David. Amalek is called "the first of nations" in Numbers 24:20. (Haman, “the Jew-hater” in the book of Esther, was a great, great, great, great grandson of King Agag, and as such…was a type of “Amalek.”)
8. Philistia: Philistines, people who inhabited the five cities of Ashdod, Gaza, Ashkelon, Gath and Ekron, (Jos 13:3 ; I Sam 6:17). Their origin is not completely known. They are said to have come from Caphtor (Jer 47:4; Amos 9:7), which is believed to be the name of Crete. Their gods were Dagon, Astarte and Baalzebub. They were and are an ever-present enemy of the nation of Israel! Some believe the word ‘Palestine’ is derived from the term ‘Philistine.’ Their non-Semitic origin is recalled in the epithet “uncircumcised” (Jud 14:3) so frequently used of them in the Bible. They were the major contender against the Hebrews for the possession of Israel.
9. Tyre: (Hebrew: a rock) A Phoenician port S. of Sidon and N. or Carmel (Lebanon today). Ezekiel showed them to have power and wealth of the great trading port. Tyre was broken as Ezekiel foretold in 26:5,14,47, and became a place where fisherman dry their nets.
10. Assyria: Originally a land between the upper Tigris and Zab rivers, with its capital first at Assur, later at Nineveh. They are sometimes referred to as Asshur or Assur. God used the nation in judgment against northern Israel and took the 10 northern tribes into captivity. The Assyrians early added to their worship of the primitive nation god Asshur the Babylonian deities with their cultic apparatus. Whenever they influenced Israel and Judah, the effect was demoralizing, as the historical books of the Bible and the prophets bear abundant witness.
Isaiah 10 refers to a man in the future who will come against Israel in the final days, (at the beginning of the 7 years of Tribulation), before the battle of Armageddon....verse 27 says..."And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing."
Isaiah 14 refers to three persons- who all merge into each other...”the king of Babylon,” Lucifer and “the Assyrian.”
The telescoping prophetic book of Naham is about impending judgment against the city of Nineveh, an original city built by Nimrod, the world’s first leader, called “Asshur” in Genesis 10:11, who was “in rebellion against the Lord.” He built the original, ancient cities of Nineveh, Erech, Shinar, Babel- Babylon, etc. The Beast of Revelation will set his throne for 42 months in the literal, physical land of ancient Babylon/Assyria, the last half of the Tribulation. Dr. Scofield says Babylon also is representative of apostate religious Gentiledom, as “Mystery” Babylon, which represents the confusion into which the Gentile political world-system has fallen (Dan 2:41-43).
Note that Naham 1:11-13, 15 says this about the ancient city of Nineveh..."There is one come out of thee, that imagineth evil against the Lord, a wicked counsellor. Thus saith the Lord, though they be quiet, and likewise many, yet thus shall they be cut down, when he shall pass through. Though I have afflicted thee, I will afflict thee no more. For now will I break his yoke from off thee, and will burst thy bonds in sunder. Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace! O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows, for the wicked shall no more pass through thee; he is utterly cut off."
Again, if the prophecy of Psalm 83 awaits a future prophecy as many believe, the "seed" of these nations must be present today under the leadership of the last ‘Amalek’ who is still continuing to plot the overthrow of Israel in order to wipe out any memory of her existence!
These ten nations have always “surrounded” the nation of Israel, from the very first! Nine of these nations came out of the original “Canaanite nations” who obviously will be led in the future by Israel’s first enemy, the ‘Amalek-like’ symbol who will be embodied in the wicked man who will turn into the beast, beginning at mid-Trib, whom the Bible calls “the Assyrian.”
“O my God, make them like a wheel; as the stubble before the wind. As the fire burneth a wood, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire; So persecute them with thy tempest, and make them afraid with thy storm. Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek thy name, O LORD. Let them be confounded and troubled for ever; yea, let them be put to shame, and perish: That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth”

Look who's talking to Hamas....
Could this be the precurser to 'The Covenant'
14 Iyar 5768, 5/19/2008
Arutz Sheva
Well, now it is official.
After months of media reports and speculation suggesting that the Israeli government was conducting talks with Hamas, along comes a senior cabinet member and confims it once and for all.
Speaking at a faction meeting of the ruling Kadima party, Vice Premier Haim Ramon acknowledged that the government is in fact holding talks with the terrorist group - even though this violates the terms of a cabinet decision proscribing such talks as long as Hamas refuses to renounce violence and recognize the Jewish state.
In a certain sense, I guess it should come as no surprise - after all, the government had little compunction making deals with Yasser Arafat, despite the rivers of innocent Jewish blood on his hands.
Nonetheless, Ramon's revelation is disheartening and even sickening. Hamas continues to fire rockets from Gaza at Israeli towns and cities, and remains inalterably committed to the Jewish state's destruction.
Instead of talking to gangsters such as Hamas, Israel should be hunting them down and putting an end to the threat they pose to innocent life and limb.
It is a sad indicator of just how much our current leadership has lost its way when it is willing to talk with Hamas terrorists, rather than eliminate them.
